Hotels

I've been promising people information about hotels for weeks now. My apologies to everyone for the delay. It's been difficult to get in touch with all the hotels we liked, but at this point at least we have some suggestions.

There are two primary hotels that we are recommending. They are the Grand Hotel Central, and the Ciutat Barcelona. These two hotels are located fairly close to each other and within walking distance of many of Barcelona's famous sites. The Grand Hotel Central is more of a luxury hotel while the Ciutat is a smaller boutique hotel and is the less expensive of the two. Both have English speaking staff, and both can take reservations via their web sites.

We can also suggest a few other hotels in the area. Across the street from the Grand Hotel Central is the HCC Montblanc Hotel. Also, in the nearby Plaza Catalunya are two other hotels, Husa Avenida Palace and the H10 Catalunya Plaza.

Nice trip

Thanh and I had a great trip this weekend to Barcelona. We went out to our venue and had a food tasting to pick out our dinner menu. All the food was excellent, but we agreed pretty quickly on what to put on the menu. We also did some recon on our hotels and venues for some of the other events.

While we were there, we stayed with our friends Paul and Tamara and their six month old son Gabriel. They have a great apartment now in the Eixample, which is a pretty nice area of Barcelona.

Below are some photos from the trip.

*Edited to add* For those of you who keep asking, NO THAT IS NOT MY BABY IN THE FIRST PICTURE! It's Paul and Tamara's son Gabriel.

Food in Barcelona

No updates on the wedding this week. Thanh and I are leaving Thursday night for four days in Barcelona. We should have some news after that.

For anyone still on the fence about whether to come or anyone who is looking for ideas of what to do in Barcelona, the New York Times had a nice article on five of the city's quality restaurants. I'm not sure I've eaten at any of these, but perhaps we'll try one next weekend. To read the whole article, click below:
