Save the Date

Finally today, I was able to get some save the date emails out. If this is your first time seeing this site, you can read the entry below this one for a short description of why we chose Barcelona, and the entries below that for some details about our engagement and our recent trip to Australia.

So, our date is set for September 29th, and we've found a fantastic venue for the event called La Baronia. It's a beautiful old house a bit outside the city of Barcelona. The original house dates back to the 15th century, and the "newer" parts were designed in the early 1900's by one of Gaudi's architects.

Like I mentioned in my email, we should have some information about hotels in Barcelona in the next few days. If you're interested in looking into your flights sooner rather than later, please keep in mind that everyone will be welcome for a rehearsal dinner on Friday the 28th, as well as a brunch the morning after on the 30th. We'll also have ideas for sightseeing that you shouldn't miss if you plan to stay in Barcelona a few extra days either before or after the wedding. We certainly think there's plenty to see in there.

Here's a photo of La Baronia from the distance:

Now for the fun part

When I last posted here, I gave the news that Thanh and I are now engaged. I guess I'm going to start using this space now to document our wedding planning. Hopefully it can serve as a good place for everyone to keep updated on the wedding and what to expect there.

Probably everyone reading this knows by now that we've decided to get married in Barcelona. There's many reasons for this, but the most important ones are: we wanted a destination wedding, we needed to find something that was equally inconvenient for both my family (US based) and Thanh's family (Australia based), we love Barcelona, and finally our dear friends who introduced us (Paul and Tamara) live in Barcelona and can help us organize things.

So, since the engagement, we've been working furiously to try to get all the arrangements made to have our wedding this fall. At this point, I can say that we've found a beautiful venue, and settled on a date of September 29th. We'll be working on getting save the date and invitations out in the next couple days. Also, I'll post some pictures of the venue when I get a little more time.

That's all for today, but I'll try to keep new updates coming in the weeks ahead.
