Ad(d)-Luv Mix

OK, so I have a new mix ready. It's called Ad(d)-Luv Mix which is kind of a pun about the fact that several of the songs are currently seen in commercials, and that there are a bunch of "lovey" songs included.

This time, I didn't feel like uploading the individual songs, so you're going to have to download the whole batch to listen to them. To get the file, Click Here . Run the exe and unzip the files, then play away.

Here's the song list with some brief commentary:

Track 1 - An Honest Mistake by The Bravery
This album is one of my favorites of the summer. It's so good I made it my phone ringtone (excuse me while I geek out).

Track 2 - Starry-Eyed Surprise by Paul Oakenfold
From the album Bunkka, it's about two years old, but re-surfaced this year when it started playing on a Diet Coke commercial. Great dreamy summertime music.

Track 3 - Feel Good Inc. by Gorillaz
You'll recognize this from the ubiquitous iPod commercials, but it really is a great song. Gorillaz are not my favorite band, but this song feels like it could be an Outkast tune, and that's a good thing.

Track 4 - This Modern Love by Bloc Party
From the album Silent Alarm, this young band out of London have written an album full of pop gems.

Track 5 - Sister Jack by Spoon
Spoon have made a number of great albums without really breaking through with any huge commercial success. This song is one of the best off their new album Gimmie Fiction.

Track 6 - Public Service Announcement by The Bravery
Second track by the Bravery on this mix. How can you go wrong with lyrics like, "you put the R in...Retarded".

Track 7 - Paralyzed by Bob Mould
Bob Mould is (allegedly) back to making swirling guitar tracks. Here's one from his album Body of Song.

Track 8 - Twin Cinema by The New Pornographers
The New Pornographers really can't do anything wrong to my ears. This is the title track of their upcoming album.

Track 9 - Modern Girl by Sleater-Kinney
Something a little mellow from Portland's best trio of rock women.

Track 10 - Say Hello by Deep Dish
I've heard Deep Dish spin this record twice at live shows, and it always brings the house down. This is the album version.

Track 11 - Your Little Hoodrat Friend by The Hold Steady
Apparently every hipster in NYC loves the Hold Steady. I'm not sure I completely get it yet, but this track is pretty entertaining.
