In the spirit of my recent trip to Mexico, I made a new mix today. These songs are in mp3 format, so everyone should be able to listen to them. If you want to download all the songs in one big file, rather than click on each link, click here . Enjoy.
Track 1 - Robot Rock
Excellent song from Daft Punk, one of the best dance music groups ever. From their new album Human After All.
Track 2 - Fly Away Love
Remix of Armand Van Heldon done by Felix da Housecat. From Felix's compilation album Playboy Mansion.
Track 3 - Queen Bitch
An old David Bowie classic, revived by the movie soundtrack for The Life Aquatic. The soundtrack also contains some excellent portuguese language covers of other Bowie songs.
Track 4 - Goodnight Goodnight
From the new album Elevator by Hot Hot Heat. A great uptempo song from this band that deserves a bigger audience.
Track 5 - You Got Me
When you first hear this song, you're going to think this is Robert Smith singing. The band's called VHS or Beta. They're not a Cure cover band, but they sound like what a new Cure album ought to be. Saw them play live opening for Scissor Sisters and that convinced me to get this album.
Track 6 - The Rest Will Follow
This band is called And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead. Not death metal, just alt-indie-rock. This track sounds a little brit-popish but the drum roll really makes the track.
Track 7 - Brother
Stereophonics are my favorite Brit-pop band. Not a genre that I really love, but these guys have tons of great tracks. This one is from their new album Language Sex Violence Other.
Track 8 - Don't Stop
Brazilian Girls. They're not girls and not Brazilian. Still this easy going little track is a beauty.
Track 9 - Bochecha ardendo
From the compilation Funk Carioca, which is a collection of Rio dance songs. You won't understand much of the lyrics, but listen for the word beijo (sounds like bay-jew) or beijinho which means kiss or little kisses.
Track 10 - 1979 remix
A remix of my favorite Smashing Pumpkins song, done by the Crystal Method on their new compilation, Community Service II.
Track 11 - Marvo Ging
A nice smooth track from the Chemical Brothers new album Push the Button. It was hard to choose one track from this album, they're all great.
Track 12 - Make Love
Closing mellow track, again from Daft Punk. Just listen and relax.
I have been listening to a few podcasts lately. These are basically amatuer radio broadcasts saved in mp3 format, then posted to a web page where anyone can download them. A great source for new music. A couple that I've been listening to are Insomniac Radio and Traxsource. Check the links and download their latest entries.
